(September 28)Investigation of the impact of the fall of a steel beam into the Unit 3 Spent Fuel Pool
On September 22, 2012, during works for debris removal from the upper part of Unit 3 reactor building, a steel beam fell into the spent fuel pool.
We have been investigating inside the pool and the impact on the surrounding environment.
There was no problem with the upper part of the stored fuel inside the pool, and no significant change was observed in the monitoring post data etc.

As a part of our business streamlining measures, we have been working on revising the existing corporate pension plan. On September 20, the revised corporate pension plan has been approved by the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare.

In addition to the variety of daily updates to our official homepage, we have now launched our Facebook page in order to provide easy-to-understand information in a timely manner.

For the purpose of promoting management and safety culture reforms, we have established the "Nuclear Reform Monitoring Committee" and the "Investigation/Verification Project Team" as the advisory bodies to the board of directors, along with the "Nuclear Reform Special Task Force" to be led by our president.

We have posted the English translation of the summary of the Fukushima Nuclear Accident Analysis Report, which was issued on June 20, 2012.
(July 23)Regarding the usage of APD shielded with lead cover
We apologize for the concern caused by the news on usage of APD shielded with lead cover in the restoration work at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station. We are currently investigating the matter and will take appropriate measures based on the results.
(July 19)Taking out two fresh fuels from the Unit 4 Spent Fuel Pool
We have finished taking out two fresh fuels from the Unit 4 Spent Fuel Pool and bringing them to the Common Spent Fuel Pool Building to investigate the condition of the fuels such as the degree of corrosion.
This work was done from 9:30 am, July 18 to 4:47 pm, July 19.

Full-sxale removal of the fuels from the Unit 4 Spent Fuel Pool was planned to begin within 2 years from the completion of Step 2, which we announced in December, 2011.
(July 11)Completion of debris removal from Unit 4 Reactor Building
We have posted a report on the completion of debris removal from the upper part of Unit 4 Reactor Building at Fukushima Daiichi. We are planning to remove large equipments left on the 5th floor until October, 2012, followed by the cover installation for fuel removal.
(June 29)Seismic safety of the Unit 4 Reactor Building
We have posted a report explaining about the investigation regarding the seismic safety of Unit 4 Reactor Building. The overall seismic safety is judged to be ensured, even taking into account the partial expansion at the 3rd floor west wall.
