On July 22, 2011, we received an instruction document titled, "Comprehensive
Evaluation of Existing Nuclear Power Reactor Facilities after the Accident
at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, Tokyo Electric Power Co., Inc.,
(Instruction)*" from Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency (NISA) of Ministry
of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI).
(Announced on July 22, 2011)
Based on the instruction, we made a comprehensive safety evaluation (primary
evaluation) on Unit 1 and Unit 7 of Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Station,
and reported the results to NISA of METI.
In the results, we evaluated that Unit 1 and Unit 7 of Kashiwazaki-Kariwa
Nuclear Power Station secured safety with some margin against earthquake
and tsunami which exceed assumption in the design. Besides, we confirmed
that the safety margin further improved by the emergency safety
countermeasures and the further safety measures.
We continuously make efforts to take safety countermeasures of nuclear power
station. When we confirm new findings through the analysis of cause on the
accident of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station and the evaluation
process, we will take appropriate measures based on such findings and keep
safety security of nuclear power station.
