TEPCO's Kashima Thermal Power Station Unit 4 (Station Manager: Masakuni
ARAKI, Location: Towada 9, Kamisu City, Ibaraki prefecture, Rated Output:
600MW) was under the inspection from November 15 to 28 in order to ensure
the reliable power supply during the winter period. After restarting its
operation at 5:30 am on November 29, the Unit stopped the generation again
at 3:39 pm as steam leakage from the tube inside the boiler was suspected
during the periodic patrol.
Today, the facility inspection was conducted after cooling the boiler down.
During the inspection, damage in the boiler tube was confirmed and the
damaged portion was located.
TEPCO will conduct further inspection and the repair work.
Today's power supply capacity is 48,300MW, with which reserve capacity of
9.8% can be secured.
