At around 12:14 a.m. on March 15, an earthquake with its epicenter off the coast of Fukushima Prefecture in Japan occurred. The seismic intensity of 5-lower, that is the operational criteria to suspend the operation of the ALPS treated water dilution/discharge facility, was measured in Naraha Town, one of the towns* where our power stations are located. In response to this situation, we suspended the operation of the ALPS treated water dilution/discharge facility at 12:33 a.m., in accordance with the pre-defined operational procedures.
After conducting field patrol inspections, we confirmed that there was no abnormality on our facilities and related parameters, and that no leakage alarms had activated. At 3:49 p.m., we commenced the ALPS treated water transfer process, and resumed the discharge into the sea.
*Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station is located in Okuma Town and Futaba Town. Fukushima Daini Nuclear Power Station is located in Tomioka Town and Naraha Town.
