Press Release
Initiation of Operations of Subsea Power Transmission Line Facilities for the Triton Knoll Offshore Wind Farm in the UK
December 6, 2023
TEPCO Power Grid, Inc.
On December 5, TEPCO Power Grid, Inc. (TEPCO PG) initiated operations of subsea power transmission line facilities for the Triton Knoll Offshore Wind Farm through its subsidiary, TEPCO Power Grid UK Limited (Headquarters: England, Representative Director/President: Shingo Ajisawa), following the acquisition of the aforementioned facilities’ assets. This project is a joint venture with funds managed by Equitix Investments Management Limited (Equitix), an infrastructure investor, developer and manager headquartered in the UK, and marks TEPCO PG’s first foray into an overseas power transmission project.
Through negotiations and signing of agreements with UK regulatory agencies and offshore wind farm developers, TEPCO PG acquired the ownership and management rights to subsea/inland transmission lines and ancillary offshore/onshore substation facilities (asset value: approximately 107 billion yen).
TEPCO PG will contribute to the offshore wind sector in the UK over the next 23 years by leveraging the knowledge and experience of management and operation of transmission facilities in Japan.
By participating in this project, TEPCO PG will accelerate the expansion of overseas projects, which is one of the key factors of its growth strategy, and leverage the technical knowledge of overseas facilities at home in Japan to reinforce power transmission networks, contribute to Net Zero society and reduce costs.
