for Supporting Frontline Field Work in Power Industry and Beyond

Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings, Inc.
Tokyo, November 20, 2018 – Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings, Inc. (TEPCO) and Pocket Queries, Inc. announced today the immediate sales launch of the QuantuMR system, which supports the maintenance and management of equipment in the field through the use of Mixed-Reality (MR) technology that merges real and virtual worlds to enable physical and 3D digital objects to interact in real time.
QuantuMR provides operational and safety support by using MR technology to enable field crews to inspect, service and operate substations and other equipment easily and intuitively, including through the use of handy operations menus and digital manuals. The system also has a remote communications function that allows managers in remote locations to supervise work in the field.
In addition to power-related electrical equipment, QuantuMR is also expected to be used for the maintenance and management of manufacturing equipment.
This year, TEPCO and Pocket Queries began jointly researching the use of MR to support frontline field work, as announced on May 17. During the system-development stage, actual substations in the Tokyo area owned by TEPCO Power Grid were used to verify the effectiveness of the QuantuMR system.
Going forward, both companies will continue developing and perfecting QuantuMR to meet diverse needs.
