Things you should know more about decommissioning
Question

What do workers wear when working on decommissioning work?

  • Work environment improvements

Answer

Depending on the type of work and the work area, workers are required to wear protective clothing and masks, etc. After the accident, the entire site was contaminated and workers needed to wear protective clothing (coveralls), full facemasks and gloves. However, currently workers need only wear normal uniforms and dust masks in approximately 96% of the site. Workers must still wear protective clothing and masks depending on the type of work, the work area, and contamination conditions.

*1
For indoor work that includes water treatment equipment (Multi-nuclide Removal Facility (ALPS), etc.) (other than inspection, etc.), a full-face mask is to be worn.
*2
For work in areas with tanks containing high-concentration saltwater or Sr treated water (not including work that does not involve handling the high-concentration saltwater, etc., patrols, site surveys for work planning, inspections, etc.) and work involving tank transfer lines, a full-face mask is to be worn.
