As a result of multilayered measures, such as pumping up groundwater and the construction of a frozen soil wall (land-side impermeable wall), etc., implemented to reduce the amount of groundwater and rainwater flowing into reactor buildings, we have reduced the amount of contaminated water being generated from approximately 540m3/day (May 2014) before countermeasures were implemented, to approximately 140m3/day (2020 average).
