TEPCO INTRODUCES NEW EXTERNAL COMMUNICATION TOOLS “INSIDE FUKUSHIMA DAIICHI” AND “TREATED WATER PORTAL SITE”

Mar 4, 2019

FUKUSHIMA, Japan — TEPCO has introduced two new website communication tools — Inside Fukushima Daiichi and Treated Water Portal Site — to provide detailed insight into the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power station and updates on the processing of treated water stored at the facility. Through these and other initiatives, TEPCO aims to further enhance communication with external stakeholders and improve public understanding of the company’s activities, including decommissioning efforts and its nuclear safety plan.

Inside Fukushima Daiichi offers a virtual tour of the decommissioning site, allowing anyone anywhere to experience what it is like to be on the decommissioning frontline. TEPCO created this virtual tour as a way of showing people the actual condition of the power station and allowing them to learn more about its decommissioning in an easy-to-understand manner. Content is available both in English and in Japanese via PC and smartphone.

The Treated Water Portal Site provides useful data and information on water treatment at Fukushima Daiichi, including current storage conditions and the company’s history of treating contaminated water. TEPCO will further update, expand and improve the contents in response to stakeholder requests. This content also is available both in English and in Japanese via PC and smartphone.

TEPCO is striving to disseminate information in the most timely and appropriate manner to keep stakeholders informed and ensure that decommissioning work can be conducted smoothly over the long term. The company is committed to enhancing transparent dialogue with stakeholders, including local communities and news media, to address concerns and prevent misunderstandings.

Particularly in regard to nuclear safety, TEPCO understands its obligation to inform the public about the effects of its safety measures, the progress of its decommissioning work, and all radiation data at 1F, including radioactive material concentrations in the air, water and ground, focusing on accuracy, timeliness and clarity.
