Press Release
Prediction for the Restoration of the Power to TEPCO Power Grid’s Service Area Affected by Power Outages Caused by Typhoon #15 [As of 18:30 on September 11]
Sep 11, 2019
Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings, Inc.
We would like to deeply apologize for the great inconvenience that the loss of power resulting from Typhoon #15 has caused on the communities affected.
Approximately 470,000 houses in TEPCO Power Grid’s service area had power outage as of 8:00 AM on September 11. By allocating support personnel intensively to Chiba Prefecture and accepting greater assistance from other electric power companies, we expect to reduce the number of households without power to about 400,000 houses tonight.
The actual damage is far greater than yesterday’s assumptions, and power outage continue in Chiba Prefecture. The power supply to Chiba City and its surrounding area is expected to be restored on September 12. The power supply to the remaining areas, including Narita City and Kisarazu City, is expected to be restored on September 13 or afterwards.
In the areas where power outage continues, we have deployed power supply trucks based on the requests of local governments. We are making the best possible effort to restore the power as quickly as possible by increasing personnel for construction work and assistance from other electric power companies.
(Reference) Maximum number of households that lost power (as of 7:50 AM, September 9): Approx. 934,900
*The number of households without power in the Kisarazu area is as of 3:09 AM as a result of a loss of power to the TEPCO Power Grid Kisarazu branch office.
