Prediction for the Restoration of the Power to TEPCO Power Grid’s Service Area Affected by Power Outages Caused by Typhoon #15

We would like to deeply apologize for the great inconvenience that the loss of power resulting from Typhoon #15 has caused on the communities affected.

As we announced on September 10, we expected to reduce the number of households without power in TEPCO Power Grid’s service area to 120,000 by this morning.

As a result of our vast efforts and support from other electric companies, we’ve been able to restore power to all regions in Shizuoka and Ibaraki prefectures. And, power has been restored to Kanagawa and Tokyo islands with the exception of some areas for which repairs are taking time due to fallen trees.

In Chiba there remain at current time approximately 400,000 households without power due to the temporary suspension of repair work in conjunction with thunderstorms, an increase in the amount of work required, which has become evident as work in the field has progressed, and a decrease in work efficiency during night work that has exceeded our expectations.

We are making every effort to restore power as quickly as possible, but at current time it is unlikely that we will be able to restore power to all of these regions before the end of the day.

We are also accurately ascertaining the needs of local governments and deploying power supply trucks to hospitals and evacuation centers in order to restore power at these locations.

We will continue in our efforts to restore power as quickly as possible and implement additional measures such as relocating workers from other areas to assist with repairs in the aforementioned locations and further assessing the amount of work that has left to be done.
