Equipment Damage and Power Outages within TEPCO Power Grid’s Service Area as a Result of Typhoon #15 [As of 10:00 AM on September 10]

The following is information on the damage caused to TEPCO Group facilities and the power outages in TEPCO Power Grid’s (hereinafter referred to as, “TEPCO PG”) service area by Typhoon #15. (As of 10:00 AM on September 10)

At current time, approximately 630,000 homes in TEPCO Power Grid’s service area have lost power as a result of the typhoon. We deeply apologize for the great inconvenience that this has caused those residents who are currently without power and society as a whole. The TEPCO Group is making every effort to restore power as quickly as possible.

1. Power outages
・Total number of households without power: Approx. 625,000 (as of 10:00 AM, September 10)
     Ibaraki Prefecture: Approx. 19,200 households
     Chiba Prefecture: Approx. 572,700 households
     Kanagawa Prefecture: Approx. 21,800 households
     Shizuoka Prefecture: Approx. 11,400 households
*The number of households without power in the Kisarazu area is as of 3:09 AM as a result of a loss of power to the TEPCO Power Grid Kisarazu branch office.

(Reference) Maximum number of households that lost power (as of 7:50 AM, September 9)
・Maximum number of households that lost power: Approx. 934,900
     Tochigi Prefecture: Approx. 1,200 households
     Ibaraki Prefecture: Approx. 99,200 households
     Saitama Prefecture: Approx. 4,100 households
     Chiba Prefecture: Approx. 637,100 households
     Tokyo Metropolitan: Approx. 12,200 households
     Kanagawa Prefecture: Approx. 141,500 households
     Shizuoka Prefecture: Approx. 39,600 households

2. Facility Damage (confirmed as of 10:00 AM on September 10)
    84 power poles were toppled
    Two steel towers were toppled (near Nagashi, Kimitsu City, Chiba Prefecture)

3. Repair Prediction
The power outages caused by the typhoon have been repaired in Tochigi, Saitama prefectures and Tokyo Metropolitan (excluding islands). And, we expect to complete repairs in Ibaraki, Kanagawa and Shizuoka prefectures today. We are continuing our efforts to restore power in Chiba Prefecture. This area is the focus of TEPCO employee dispatches and we are receiving assistance from other electric power companies as we try our best to enlarge the area within which power has been restored as much as possible before the day is out.

4. Personnel and Power Supply Trucks (as of 10:00 AM on September 10)
 (1) TEPCO’s personnel: 8,000 workers have performed inspections and made repairs in the field.
 (2) Other electric power companies’ personnel: Approx. 1,420 workers have joined in our efforts.
 (3) TEPCO’s power supply trucks: 169 power supply trucks have already prepared.
 (4) Other electric power companies’ personnel: 82 power supply trucks have already prepared.
