TEPCO Employee Tests Positive for Covid-19

Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings, Inc.

It was confirmed today through PCR testing that one employee of Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings, Inc. working in the Kashiwazaki City branch in Niigata Prefecture (Niigata Division) has contracted Covid-19.

At the TEPCO Group*, a Covid-19 Countermeasures Task Force headed by TEPCO's president has taken measures to prevent the spread of the virus, and we have continued to implement our Business Continuity Plan while also implementing countermeasures to prevent infection and the spread of the virus. This Covid-19 infection of an employee shall not impact the stable supply of power, the safe operation of power stations, nor decommissioning work.

Going forward, the TEPCO Group will respond properly to instructions given by health officials as we continue to implement countermeasures to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

1. Branch and number of infections
Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings, Inc. Niigata Division; one employee
(The infected employee does not work at the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Station)

2. Measures already taken
- Sterilization of the office in which the infected employee works
- Shelter-in-place order given to employees who work in the vicinity of the infected employee

3. Main countermeasures to prevent the spread of infection in the Niigata Division
- In principle, employees are to work remotely from home except when engaging in priority duties
- Employees have been ordered to take their temperature before coming to the office and to wear surgical masks while commuting and when at work.
- Employees have been ordered not to venture outside of Niigata Prefecture on business.
- Employees that have traveled outside the prefecture are being instructed to work remotely from home for two weeks upon returning to Niigata prefecture, and to refrain from leaving their homes for unnecessary reasons during this period.
- Employees have been instructed to refrain from face-to-face contact with Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Station employees.
