TEPCO Employee Tests Positive for Covid-19

Apr 7, 2020

Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings, Inc.

It has been confirmed through PCR testing that one employee of TEPCO Power Grid, Inc. working in the Shinagawa District branch in Tokyo has contracted the Covid-19.

The workspace of this employee at the branch was sterilized on April 1, the day after the aforementioned employee last came to work.
Since March 4, the entire TEPCO Group* has been implementing measures to prevent the spread of the virus, such as sterilizing objects frequently touched, like door knobs and switches in commonly used spaces, and separating paths of traffic within buildings (building entrances, elevators, common areas, such as the cafeteria, etc.) for the employees who secure the stable supply of power.

At the TEPCO Group, a Covid-19 Countermeasures Task Force headed by TEPCO’s president has taken measures to prevent the spread of the virus. These measures include advanced checking of a list of personnel required to continue business operations, the stockpiling of emergency supplies, such as masks and food, and the suspension of conferences that require multiple persons to assemble in the same location. In addition, we are recommending that all employees take their temperature prior to coming to work and commute at different times to avoid congestion on public transportation.

We will continue to closely monitor the rate of infection in Japan so that we may prioritize the health and safety of our employees whilst continuing our business activities and implementing measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in accordance with our New Strain of Influenza Countermeasure business Plan in order to provide a stable supply of power.
