Replacement of gas turbine etc. for the reduction of fuel cost and CO2 emissions completed
TEPCO Fuel & Power, Incorporated
Yokohama Thermal Power Station Unit 4 at Group 8 restarted its operations yesterday after renewing its turbine to the latest model, TEPCO Fuel & Power, Incorporated (hereinafter called TEPCO Fuel & Power) announced. It's a part of the total 8 units for which their gas turbines etc. are being replaced for the purpose of improving outputs and generating efficiency at Yokohama Thermal Power Station Group 7 (fuel: LNG, rated output: 350MW x 4 units) and Group 8 (fuel: LNG, rated output: 350MW x 4 units). Total of 8 units at Group 7 and 8 are all "Advanced Combined Cycle" type thermal generation facilities.
With this replacement, TEPCO Fuel & Power completed the replacement of 3 units out of total 8 units. In the future, TEPCO Fuel & Power will replace remaining 5 units in succession.
The renewal improved generation efficiency from 54.1% to 55.8% and rated output from 350 MW to 377 MW. As a result, fuel costs could be cut by up to 0.8 billion yen and CO2 emissions by 30 thousand tons.
TEPCO Fuel & Power will continue to strive to strategically reduce fuel costs in order to supply stable and internationally competitive electricity and to generate funds towards revitalization of Fukushima.
