At 6:25 AM on August 8, 2015, an accident occurred in which the head of a 52 year-old male was caught in the tank hatch located at the rear of the vehicle. He was cleaning the vehicles used to construct the landside impermeable wall in the soil disposal area at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station.
The worker was transported to the emergency medical room at the Entrance Control Building and then at 7:27 AM taken to the Takano Hospital in Hirono town; however, at 7:56 AM he was pronounced dead by a physician.
No radioactive substances were found on the body of the contracted worker.
We offer our deepest condolences to the deceased and his family.
TEPCO will make a thorough investigation as to the causes of this accident and take measures to prevent recurrence.
