Press Release (Apr 17, 2014)Submission of Report Regarding the Electricity Supply-Demand Outlook for This Summer to the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry

We have today submitted data, etc. on the electricity supply-demand outlook for this summer to the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry in accordance with a directive document, "Electricity supply-demand outlook for this summer (Collection of reports)", received from the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry on April 14, 2014.

The electricity supply-demand balance outlook in the report reflects power interchange to western Japan (to Kansai Electric Power Co., and Kyushu Electric Power Co.), and the electricity supply-demand outlook for this summer will be officially announced after the review by the "Subcommittee to investigate electricity supply and demand of the General subcommittee of the General resources and energy investigation committee" (provisional translation), etc.

The numbers provided in parentheses are assumptions excluding power interchange to western Japan (to Kansai Electric Power Co, and Kyushu Electric Power Co.) with FC (Frequency Converter).
*1: High temperature similar to hot summer in 2010
*2: Maximum demand includes an estimate of approximately -7,000MW of power saving by customers, as we estimate that an electricity saving of 90% of -7,740MW (power saving during last summer) can be expected in this period. This assumption is based on our interviews with large customers (categorized as liberalized customers) and questionnaires to households, which resulted in the recognition that 90% of them consider that they would be able to continue their electricity saving in 2014 in the same manner as 2013.
