At Fukushima Daini Nuclear Power Station, the restoration of equipment/facilities necessary for maintaining cold shutdown was ongoing in accordance with the restoration plan developed based on the Nuclear Operator Emergency Action Plan.
Following the restoration of Unit 4 (completed on May 17, 2012), Units 3-4 discharge channel monitor at common facility (completed on September 21, 2012), Unit 3 (completed on October 11, 2012), Unit 2 (completed on February 15, 2013) and Units 1-2 discharge channel monitor at common facility (completed on February 18, 2013), the restoration of the equipment/facilities necessary for maintaining cold shutdown and Unit 1 has been completed on May 30, 2013.
The restoration of equipment/facilities necessary to maintain cold shutdown based on the Restoration Plan at all Units was completed herewith, a final progress report including these updates was submitted to the Prime Minister, the Nuclear Regulation Authority, the governor of Fukushima prefecture and mayors of Naraha Town and Tomioka Town on June 5, 2013.
We will perform an inspection in a planned manner and secure a soundness of the equipment/facilities necessary to maintain cold shutdown, and continue our utmost efforts in ensuring safety at Fukushima Daini Nuclear Power Station in accordance with the "Special Maintenance Plan."
* Special Maintenance Plan
Special measures (development of policy for maintenance and target setting, setting and enforcement of implementation plan, evaluation/reflection on a regular basis) complying with the condition of the plant is required by regulation in cases such as plant is suspended for a long period of time due to the natural disasters/accidents, or plant is in specific condition in terms of being maintained. "Special Maintenance Plan" is developed based on such measures.
The plants of Units 1-4 of Fukushima Daini Nuclear Power Station are all shutdown since Tohoku-Chihou-Taiheiyou-Oki Earthquake (2011) and therefore we have established a "Special Maintenance Plan (long term preservation plan)" for systems/equipment necessary to maintain cold shutdown of the reactors stable. On March 16, 2012, we submitted an alternation document in the maintenance plan to Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency of Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
