....Appendix 2. Nonconformances Found in the Inspection and Restoration Works Performed after the
Niigata-Chuetsu-Oki Earthquake
Based on the "Public Announcement Regarding Nonconformance Found in the Inspection
and Restoration Works Performed after the Niigata-Chuetsu-Oki Earthquake", the Tokyo
Electric Power Company, Incorporated (TEPCO) provides this announcement containing
incidents information reported from March 27th to April 2nd, 2008.
○ Incidents Information (relating to the Chuetsu-Oki Earthquake)
<Reports from Mar. 27 to Apr. 2, 2008>
○ Other Findings
• Unit No.7:
As for the inspection for forks of rotor blades on the turbine-side of
14th-stage of the low-pressure turbine (C), based on visual inspection,
damage was found on a part of one rotor blade on March 3rd, 2008.
Non-destructive inspection was conducted as part of the detailed inspection
since March 7th, 2008 for forks of 151 rotor blades except for the one
already found to be damaged. As a result, indications were found on the
fork of 17 rotor blades. Visual and non-destructive inspections were conducted
for forks of 152 rotor blades on the generator-side of 14th-stage of the
low-pressure turbine (C) and no additional damage was found (announced on
March 13th, March 19th and March 27th, 2008).
Subsequently, visual inspection and non-destructive inspection were conducted
for forks of 152 rotor blades on the turbine-side and generator-side of
14th-stage of the low-pressure turbine (A). As a result of the non-destructive
inspection, an indication was found on a rotor blade on the turbine-side.
Additionally, visual inspection was conducted for forks of rotor blades on the
turbine-side of 14th-stage of the low-pressure turbine (B) and damage was found
on a part of one rotor blade.
Investigation on the cause of the indication will be continued as well as visual
and non-destructive inspections for other forks of the 14th-stage of the low-pressure
turbine (B).
