TEPCO Group's new brand tagline is "The Energy for Every Challenge," representing its commitment to competitiveness and responsibility.
TOKYO, August 18-Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) announced today the new company branding for the TEPCO holding group, effective as of April 1, 2016. The brand signifies its determination to survive in the midst of competition while fulfilling its responsibilities for the Fukushima nuclear accident.
The new brand slogan for the TEPCO Group is "The Energy for Every Challenge."
"Challenge" signifies its determination to survive the competition while fulfilling its responsibilities. "Energy" represents not only its business domain of electricity or gas, but also its passion and power to support each person's challenge in society.
The new logo of the TEPCO Group represents improvements to the familiar name of "TEPCO" and the inheritance of its brand value. It conveys the image of a global and advanced company while striving to become a leading company in the energy sector.
For "TEPCO Power Grid, Incorporated," an eternity motif has been chosen as its logo to express its intention to continue its stable supply of electricity while guaranteeing neutrality and fairness in the general power transmission and distribution business.

New Holding Company System
TEPCO has decided to transition to a holding company system by spinning off its business into three independent companies;
· TEPCO Fuel & Power, Incorporated: responsible for the fuel and thermal power generation business
· TEPCO Power Grid, Incorporated: in charge of the general power transmission and distribution business
· TEPCO Energy Partner, Incorporated: managing the electricity retail business
The Japan's electricity market is entering a period of dramatic change. Full liberalization of the electricity retail market is scheduled for April 2016, and the law requires separation of electricity transmission and distribution functions from the retail business in 2020.
The changes in TEPCO's company structure anticipate these changes and prepare it to succeed in the new, competitive environment, while serving its customers with a stable supply of electricity and full retention of its responsibilities not only for Fukushima but also for safety and reliability throughout its business.
