Tokyo Electric Power Company Incorporated
Japan Atomic Power Company

Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) and the Japan Atomic Power Company (JAPC) today entered into a cooperation agreement for the Fukushima Daiichi NPS decommissioning business.
The following was agreed by both companies to build a cooperative relationship for the decommissioning of Fukushima Daiichi NPS
- Temporary assignment of JAPC staff to TEPCO
- JAPC to receive contract for decommissioning work
- Co-operation in the planning and facility management related to decommissioning business*
Details of the business and the organization between both companies are under discussion.

To overcome the technological challenges with regard to decommissioning, TEPCO will engage many inside/outside experts in the field and invest more management resources in order to fulfill its responsibility for the Fukushima Daiichi NPS accident.
TEPCO will also use this cooperation agreement to fundamentally strengthen its decommissioning organization in order to stably and safely proceed with the long-term decommissioning process.

JAPC will actively cooperate making full use of its long-term experience and knowledge in the construction, operation and decommissioning of nuclear power stations, and will also use the opportunity to further its management reforms in order to position such decommissioning work as one of the company’s core businesses.

About a hundred staff from the JAPC group will be assigned in the first half of fiscal 2015, and more resources in the form of secondments, contracts or outsourcing agreements may be assigned, depending on TEPCO’s needs, within the same fiscal year.

* Details of the contract will be agreed to at a later date based on appropriate discussion and consideration of technologies and risks possessed by JAPC.
