Press Release (Jul 30, 2014)Result of CO2 Emissions Intensity in FY 2013 (Revised Version)

TEPCO's CO2 emissions intensity in FY 2013 based on the "Act on Promotion of Global Warming Countermeasures" was 0.530 kg-CO2/kWh (1 % increase compared to the previous year), and was 0.521 kg-CO2/kWh (28 % increase compared to the previous year) with Kyoto mechanism credits, etc. reflected.

The CO2 emissions intensity in and after FY 2011 are higher than in and before FY 2010, since power generated by thermal power generation increased sharply due to the shutdown of nuclear power stations.
The increase in CO2 emissions intensity in 2013 was due to the fact that the quantity of Kyoto mechanism credits decreased to about 2.4Mt-CO2 in 2013, since the first commitment period (2008~2012) stipulated by the Kyoto Protocol ended.

The CO2 emissions intensity in FY 2013 will be announced per electric power company after the review of Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and Ministry of the Environment.

TEPCO will continue to do its utmost, as a responsible utility, to ensure a stable power supply.
