Of Tokyo Electric Power Company's (TEPCO) Futtsu Thermal Power Station, Unit 2 of Group 4 (Site Superintendent: Kenji Obara; Location: 25 Shintomi, Futtsu, Chiba Pref.; Rated Output: 507MW, Fuel: LNG; type of power generation: 1,500℃ combined cycle; commercial operation start: October 2010) was under checkout since June 28 as it is the same type as Unit 1 of Group 4 Unit of the Station damaged on gas turbine blade on May 22, and to prevent similar trouble.
As for now, the recovery schedule has not yet been set.
To supply enough for the power demand of this summer, TEPCO is preparing to start Unit 1 of Kashima Thermal Power Station (Site Superintendent: Hirohisa Ishii; Location: 9 Higashi Wada, Kamisu, Ibaraki Pref.; Rated Output: 600MW, Fuel: Heavy and Crude oil; type of power generation: steam; commercial operation start: March 1971) which is currently under planned long-term suspension.
TEPCO will continue to do its utmost to provide a stable supply of electricity through the stable operation and maintenance of its electricity facilities as a responsible electric provider, as well as to take the responsibility for the reconstruction of Fukushima through the establishment of a business foundation.
