Press Release (Apr 22, 2014)Shutdown of Unit 2 of Kashima Thermal Power Station and Unit 2 of Higashi Ohgishima Thermal Power Station

Unit 2 of Kashima thermal power station being operated at a rated output (Station chief: Hirohisa Ishii, Location: 9 Touwada, kamisu city, Ibaraki prefecture, Rated capacity: 600 MW, Fuel: Petroleum fuel, Commercial operation commencement date: September, 1971) was shutdown at 7:25 PM, April 21 due to a possibility of steam leakage from a tube in the boiler.

A similar leakage was also suspected at Unit 2 of Higashi Ohgishima thermal power station(Station chief: Satoshi Kagami, Location: 3 Higashi Ohgishima, Kawasaki ward, Kawasaki city, Kanagawa prefecture, Rated capacity: 1,000 MW, Commercial operation commencement date: March, 1991), accordingly the power generating operation of the station was shutdown at 1:47 PM today.
