Fukushima Daiichi NPS Prompt Report (Jan 14, 2014)Water Leak at a Tank in the H4 area in Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station (Follow-up Information 64)
This is follow-up information on the ‘water leak at a tank in the H4 area in Fukushima Daiichi NPS' found on August 19.
Today (on January 14), the measurement value of the cesium concentration in the water sampled at the drainage channel B [the point immediately short of the junction with the drainage channel C (B-3)] rose up more than ten times as high as that of the last sampling.
<The measurement result on January 14>
- At the point immediately short of the junction with the drainage channel C (B-3)
・Cesium-134: 180Bq/L
・Cesium-137: 420Bq/L
・Gross β: 1,100Bq/L
<The measurement result on January 13>
- At the point immediately short of the junction with the drainage channel C (B-3)
・Cesium-134: Below the detection limit value (The detection limit value: 18Bq/L)
・Cesium-137: Below the detection limit value (The detection limit value: 26Bq/L)
・Gross β: 200Bq/L
[The highest measurement values in the past]
<The measurement result (date)>
- AT the point immediately short of the junction with the drainage channel C (B-3)
・Cesium-134: 300Bq/L (on September 15, 2013)
・Cesium-137: 670Bq/L (on September 15, 2013)
・Gross β: 110,000Bq/L (on October 24, 2013)
We estimate that the soil accumulating in the drainage channel had certain influence on the result, for the sampling is muddy.
As there was no water in the downstream of B-1 (B-2), we could not collect a sampling from there. We found no remarkable change in the measurement results obtained at the other points, compared to the last ones.
