At around 10:20 AM today (on December 11), a TEPCO employee on a patrol found the filtered water was dropping from a joint part of metal flexible hose of the alternative cooling system secondary system (System A) for the spent fuel pool at Unit 3, at the pace of approximately a drop per 5 seconds.
The leak was found seeped on the ground over a range of approx. 50cm×40cm.
The leaking point is the joint part between the heat exchanger (System A) inlet valve and the heat exchanger.
At 11:05 AM today (on December 11), we isolated the heat exchanger (System A), and at 11:17 AM, the dropping stopped.
The spent fuel pool is continuously cooled down with the System B.
We are currently examining the site and investigating causes etc. for this leak.
