This is follow-up information on the latest situation concerning the detection of high densities of tritium and strontium in the observation hole located on the east of the Units 1-4 Turbine Buildings.
We perform and analyze samplings inside and outside the port at the power station on a regular basis.
We would like to announce the measurement results of the samplings: Today (on November 17), we found a significant increase in the measurement result for all-β (2,100Bq/L) sampled in the groundwater observation holes No. 1 to 9 on the east of the Turbine Buildings Units 1 to 4, compared to the result for all-β obtained on November 14 (76Bq/L).
These groundwater observation holes (No.1 to 9) are located in the outside (sea-side) area where ground improvement work (between Units 1 and 2) are implemented, but there was no significant change in the measurement results obtained on November 11 at the observation holes (No.1 to 8) in the inside (mountain-side) area, and the groundwater level is lower than the upper end in the area under ground improvement work.
Also, we found no significant change in the measurement results obtained in the surface- and lower-layers of the water intake between Units 1 and 2, and in the north side of water intake for Units 1 to 4.
For more confirmation, we will conduct samplings and measurements tomorrow (on November 18) again at those observation holes (No.1 to 9).
We found no significant change in other observation holes.
