The multi-nuclide removal equipment (ALPS) system A has been suspended since June 16, 2013 because we found a penetration defect, which resulted from crevice corrosion of a batch treatment tank of the system. At 10:08 AM today (on October 28), we restarted a hot test for the system as we completed implementation of: measures for preventing recurrence of penetration defects that result from crevice corrosion of the batch treatment tank of the multi-nuclide removal equipment (ALPS) system A; horizontal deployment; and measures for reducing the risk of occurrence and development of corrosion.
The system will be inspected on a regular basis after the start of the hot test.
