This is follow-up information on the latest situation concerning the detection of high densities of tritium and strontium in the observation hole located on the east of the Units 1-4 Turbine Buildings.
We perform and analyze samplings inside and outside the port at the power station on a regular basis.
We would like to announce the measurement results of the samplings: On October 9, we found a significant increase in the measurement results of cesium 134 and 137 sampled inside the silt fence of the water intake for Unit 2, compared to the results obtained on October 8.
<Inside the screen silt fence for Unit 2: Sampled on October 9>
Cesium 134: 370Bq/L
Cesium 137: 830Bq/L
<Outside the screen silt fence for Unit 2: Sampled on October 9>
Cesium 134: 67Bq/L
Cesium 137: 160Bq/L
[Reference: Measurement results on October 8]
<Inside the screen silt fence for Unit 2: Sampled on October 8>
Cesium 134: 26Bq/L
Cesium 137: 64Bq/L
<Outside the screen silt fence for Unit 2: Sampled on October 8>
Cesium 134: 32Bq/L
Cesium 137: 74Bq/L
It is assumed that the ground improvement work administrated near the water intake for Unit 2 (where high concentration contaminated water leaked two years ago) has some influence on the increase in the measurement results this time. We continue to watch the situation.
No significant change was found in the samplings at the other points on the same day (October. 9)
