This is follow-up information regarding the water leakage which occurred today (on October 9) near the desalination system (reverse osmosis membrane: RO-3) inside the temporary warehouse.
Of 11 workers who were conducting the work and coping with the situation following the leakage, 6 workers were found to have radioactive material on their bodies while the other 5 workers were found to have no radioactive material on their bodies.
The 6 workers found to have radioactive material on their bodies were found to have no radioactive material on their faces as a result of measurement. Therefore, we ruled out the possibility of their internal intake of radioactive material.
Additionally, we found out that the leakage occurred at 9:35 AM.
Further, in investigating conditions under which the leakage occurred, we found the leakage to have been caused when a joint of an irrelevant pipe was taken off by mistake although a joint of another pipe at the entrance side of the desalination system should have been taken off for the purpose of taking off this pipe.
