Fukushima Daiichi NPS Prompt Report 2013

Fukushima Daiichi NPS Prompt Report (Oct 09, 2013)Water Leakage near Desalination System (Reverse Osmosis Membrane) at Fukushima Daiichi NPS

At around 10:01 AM today (on October 9), we were informed that, during work carried out near the desalination system (reverse osmosis membrane: RO-3) inside a temporary warehouse, water leakage occurred as a cooperative company worker took off a joint of a pipe by mistake.

Therefore, we reconnected the joint of the pipe and shut off a valve near the pipe. As a result, the water leakage stopped at 10:50 AM.

All of the leaked water has stayed inside the dike of the temporary warehouse, and has not flowed out from the temporary warehouse.

We are currently investigating details of this incident, such as conditions under which the leakage occurred, and will make an announcement on the details as soon as we can.

Since there is a sufficient amount of desalinated water, the incident will not affect water injection into the reactors.

Further, no significant change has been found in the monitoring post readings.
