Fukushima Daiichi NPS Prompt Report 2013

Fukushima Daiichi NPS Prompt Report (Oct 07, 2013)Water Dripping Found on Unit 6 Reactor Building's 3rd Floor at Fukushima Daiichi NPS

At around 11:45 AM today (on October 7), on the Unit 6 Reactor Building's 3rd Floor at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, a TEPCO employee who was conducting system depressurization of a control rod drive mechanism* found that a drain hose for a drain line has a damage, and that water was dripping onto the floor.

The leaked water has spread over the area of approx. 3cm × 5cm × the depth of 1mm (amounting to approx. 1.5cc), and has remained inside the dike. Currently, the leakage is stopped.

We are to conduct a survey on the location where the leakage occurred. No significant change has been found in the monitoring post readings.

* Control rod drive mechanism: A facility used for pulling out and inserting a control rod inside a nuclear reactor.
