This is follow-up information on the water leak in Unit 5 Waste Treatment Building at Fukushima Daiichi NPS, which was happened today (on October 3).
Leaked water is currently being remained at inside of the dike, and the analysis result of the leaked water is as follows.
Co-60: 6.3 x 10-2Bq/cm3
Cesium-134: Below the detection limit value (detection limit value: 1.9 x 10-2Bq/cm3)
Cesuim-137: Below the detection limit value (detection limit value: 2.7 x 10-2Bq/cm3)
As we investigated the cause of the leakage, it is estimated that a piping screw, which connects receiving part of cooling water for a pump bearing and the drain pipe, is loosened, since an external force was applied to the drain pipe.
We will implement a repair of this piping screw.
We initially announced that the leakage was stopped after suspension of the pump. However, we came to know that the water was still dropping when we suspended the pipe as we received further information.
Water is currently leaking at a pace of 1 drop per a second, and we are collecting this drain water by a drain receiving pan.
