Fukushima Daiichi NPS Prompt Report 2013

Fukushima Daiichi NPS Prompt Report (Sep 18, 2013)Water Leak at a Tank in the H4 area in Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station (Follow-up Information 46)

This is follow-up information on the "water leak at a tank in the H4 area in Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station" found on August 19.

The measurement result of all β in a sample newly obtained from the observation hole (E-3) around H4 tank area on September 18 was 570Bq/L.
* The observation hole No.3 is located on the north of the observation hole No.4.

<Observation hole E-3 (new)>
- Sampled on September 18
All β: 570Bq/L

The measurement result obtained at E-1, E-2 and E-4 on September 18 had no significant change, compared to the measurement result obtained on September 17.

Based on the possibility of influence on these results by leakage in H4 area tanks and leakage from the concentrated salt water transportation pipe treated with desalination apparatus (reverse osmosis membrane type) on March 26 and April 5 in 2012, we will continue to monitor the situation.

The measurement results of tritium in a sample newly obtained from the groundwater bypass pumping wells No.5 and No.6 on September 17 were as follows.

<Groundwater bypass pumping well No.5>
- Sampled on September 17
Tritium: 11Bq/L
All β: Below the detection limit value (detection limit value: 15Bq/L) (previously announced)

<Groundwater bypass pumping well No.6>
- Sampled on September 17
Tritium: 110Bq/L
All β: Below the detection limit value (detection limit value: 15Bq/L) (previously announced)

No significant change was found on the other results obtained from other groundwater pumping wells (from No.7 to No.12), compared with the previous results obtained on September 10.
