Fukushima Daiichi NPS Prompt Report 2013

Fukushima Daiichi NPS Prompt Report (Sep 15, 2013)Overflow of Accumulated Water inside the Dike in the B Area's South Side at Fukushima Daiichi NPS

At around 1:08 PM today (on September 15), we found accumulated water inside the dike in the B area's south side* overflowing from the dike due to a sudden heavy rainfall, while making preparation for transfer of the accumulated water inside the dike in the B area's south side in case of having rainwater accumulated inside dikes around the contaminated water storage tanks at Fukushima Daiichi NPS, as a typhoon was approaching.
* Water contained in the tanks in the B area's south side is water that was treated by the desalination system (RO), not RO-concentrated water.

Immediately, at around 1:13 PM on the same day, we started to transfer the accumulated water inside the dike to a tank in the same area using a temporary pump prepared for the transfer. The outflow of the accumulated water inside the dike was thereby stopped.

At present, we are conducting radioactivity analysis and detailed confirmation on the accumulated water inside the dike in the B area's south side, and will announce the analysis results and so on as soon as we find them out.
