This is follow-up information on the "water leak at a tank in the H4 area in Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station" found on August 19.
In coping with the water dropping from the connecting pipe flange part between H5-IV-Tank No.5 and H5-IV-Tank No.6, we tightened up 12 flange bolts at this flange part after removing the absorption mat and the protective plastic sheeting from the flange part, which were attached yesterday.
After the bolts had been tightened up, the flange part was left in this state for 30 minutes for the purpose of checking whether or not water leakage was occurring. Then, at 2:20 PM, we determined that no water leakage was occurring. The attachment of the absorption mat and the protective plastic sheeting has been completed.
For the confirmation purpose, the water levels of H5-IV-Tank No.5 and H5-IV-Tank No.6 were measured and found unchanged.
