This is follow-up information on the latest situation concerning the detection of high densities of Tritium and Strontium in the observation hole at the east side of the Unit 1-4 Turbine Buildings of Fukushima Daiichi NPS.
Since August 15, we have been pumping up groundwater from the well point (pumping facility using a vacuum) installed east of Units 1 and 2 Turbine Buildings and have been transferring the pumped-up groundwater to the Unit 2 vertical shaft C. Last night (August 22), installation of 28 locations of all well points was completed. Groundwater is being pumped up from total 28 well points and is being transferred to the Unit 2 vertical shaft C since 8:20 AM today (August 23).
