This is follow-up information regarding the alarm indicating the high-high radioactivity level, which went off at the continuous dust monitor installed in front of the Main Anti-earthquake Building at Fukushima Daiichi NPS today (on August 19).
The 2 people found to have their bodies contaminated underwent whole body counting, and were both found to have no internal intake.
In addition, from the two continuous dust monitors installed there, an alarm indicating the high radioactivity level went off at around 9:29 AM (from one of the monitors) and at around 9:34 AM (from the other monitor). In response, we conducted dust sampling with a portable measurement device in front of the Main Anti-earthquake Building from 9:50 to 10:10 AM. The measured γ nuclide densities are as follows, showing increases in cesium densities:
Cesium-134: 2.6×10-4Bq/cm3
Cesium-137: 5.8×10-4Bq/cm3
(Reference) Alarm setting levels:
High: 5×10-5Bq/cm3
High-high: 1×10-4Bq/cm3
The instruction to put on masks in the areas not requiring full-face (or half-face) masks in the power station site has been kept in force.
