This is follow-up information on the latest situation concerning the detection of high densities of Tritium and Strontium in the observation hole at the east side of the Unit 1-4 Turbine Buildings of Fukushima Daiichi NPS.

From August 15 to 17, groundwater was pumped up from 22 well points. At 9:00 AM today (on August 18), groundwater was pumped up from the 23rd well point, which was already drilled before a drilling machine was failed yesterday, and water transfer to the Unit 2 vertical shaft C was started.

Drilling of 24th and the following well points using an alternative machine is scheduled from August 19.

Water level of the groundwater observation hole No.1-8, which locates the sea side of the well point, after groundwater was pumped up from the well point is as follows.

<Groundwater observation hole No.1-8> (*The amounts are provisional value, since the reference altitude is still being confirmed)
