We have today received advance consent from Kashiwazaki City and Kariwa Village on the installation of filter vent systems in Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Station Units 6 and 7, according to the safety agreement.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Kashiwazaki City Mayor, Mr. Aida, Kariwa Village Mayor, Mr. Shinada, and all those involved.
Before giving us the consent today, the Kashiwazaki City mayor requested that we confirm compliance of our facilities with the new regulatory standards, make efforts to seek the understanding of the surrounding local communities, and conduct thorough discussions on the operation scheme. The Kariwa Village mayor also requested that we gain understanding from society that the aim of the filter vent systems is to increase safety allowance.
We are committed to achieving detailed and extensive coordination with the national and municipal governments regarding determination of the operational specifications of the systems. Meanwhile, we will continue to pursue safety measures to further improve reliability of the power station, and do our utmost to provide information and explain issues to local communities in a careful and straightforward manner.
