This is a follow-up report on the statuses of an alarm indicating high radiation dose went off at the continuous dust monitor installed in front of the Main Anti-earthquake Building at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station today (On August 12).
Since the source of water used in the Main Anti-earthquake Building and Unit 5, 6 (purpose for the toilet, etc.) is the same as the water used for the mist generator, which is considered to be the cause of the contamination, we have prohibited to use the water for hand washing, etc. and announced by the simultaneous broadcast at 1:16 PM on the same day.
Also, we have closed the main valve of the water at 1:40 PM on the same day, which was used for the mist generator, in the Main Anti-earthquake Building and in Unit 5, 6.
Since the maximum dose of 10Bq/cm2 were detected from heads and faces of 10 people who were found to be contaminated, an instruction has been given to them to be tested by the whole body counter.
Currently, we are analyzing the radioactivity of the water used for the mist generator, and the result will be announced soon after it is ready.
