This is follow-up information on the latest situation concerning the detection of high densities of Tritium and Strontium in the observation hole at the east side of the Unit 1-4 Turbine Buildings of Fukushima Daiichi NPS.
We would like to make an announcement on measurement results of the tritium densities on a sample taken on July 31 from the newly installed groundwater observation hole No.1-5 (west of the groundwater observation hole No.1-3), as we obtained the results.
<Groundwater observation hole No.1-5> (new)
- Sampling on July 31: Tritium 28,000Bq/L
(Reference: Measured densities in nearby locations around the groundwater observation hole No.1)
<Groundwater observation hole No.1> (previously announced)
- Sampling on July 25:
Tritium 430,000Bq/L
<Groundwater observation hole No.1-2> (previously announced)
- Sampling on July 25:
Tritium 370,000Bq/L
<Groundwater observation hole No.1-3> (previously announced)
- Sampling on July 25:
Tritium 260,000Bq/L
<Groundwater observation hole No.1-4> (previously announced)
- Sampling on July 25:
Tritium 50,000Bq/L
We are continuing to intensify the monitoring by using the results of additional boring to drill additional locations, and the analyses results on seawater at such locations as the port interior and the water outlets. In addition, we are continuing to tackle this problem in such manners as to intensely bring forward implementation of contamination prevention measures such as transferring and blocking of the contaminated water inside the water intake power cable trench, purification of the contaminated water inside the seawater piping trench, as well as foundation improvement work to the bank protection.
