At around 6:40 AM today (July 23), a TEPCO employee on patrol found oil leaking in a trench at the bottom of valve gear oil injection tank of Unit 6 emergency diesel generator (B) at Fukushima Daiichi NPS.
The leaked range was approx. 5m x 5m x 1mm; and an oil supply valve was slightly opened as a result of a site inspection. The oil supply valve was closed immediately and the leaked amount has decreased, but the leaking is ongoing (oil is leaking continuously in a string-shape). Currently, the leaked oil is being received by a drain pan.
The incident was reported to Tomioka fire department at 7:05 AM today (July 23).
We will continue to inspect the condition and the cause of the leakage.
