This is follow-up information on the latest situation concerning the detection of high densities of Tritium and Strontium in the observation hole at the east side of the Unit 1-4 Turbine Buildings of Fukushima Daiichi NPS.
As we have obtained measurement results for the γ nuclides and all-β in samples taken yesterday (on July 9) from the groundwater observation holes No.1-2 and No.2, and of seawater at the port entrance, seawater in the east side inside the port, seawater in the west side inside the port, seawater in the Unit 1-4 water intake north side, and seawater between the water intakes of Units 1 and 2 (near the surface and near the bottom), we would like to make an announcement on those results.
As a result, cesium-134 and cesium-137 in the groundwater observation hole No.1-2 were detected at 11,000Bq/L and 22,000Bq/L, respectively. (Cesium-134 and cesium-137 were at 9,000Bq/L and 18,000Bq/L, respectively, in the previous analysis on the sample taken on July 8.)
All-β in the groundwater observation hole No.2 was detected at 910Bq/L. (1,700Bq/L in the previous analysis on the sample taken on July 8.)
With regards the other results, detected densities were at the same levels as the previous analysis results (on the samples taken on July 2 from the groundwater observation holes No.1-2 and No.2, on July 4 of seawater at the port entrance, seawater in the east side inside the port, and seawater in the west side inside the port, and on July 7 of seawater in the Unit 1-4 water intake north side and seawater between the water intakes of Units 1 and 2 (near the surface and near the bottom)).
Upon obtaining the measurement results for tritium in these locations, we will release them likewise.
We are continuing to tackle this problem in such manners as to intensely bring forward implementation of contamination prevention measures such as foundation improvement work to the bank protection, and comprehensively intensify the monitoring by using the results of additional boring to drill additional locations, and the analyses results on seawater at such locations as the port interior and the water outlets.
