President
Tokyo Electric Power Company
I express my sincere condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Masao Yoshida, former Plant Chief.
Mr. Yoshida was serving as the Plant Chief of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station on March 11, 2011 and led workers to take action against the accident, literally prepared to give his life. On behalf of all employees, I express my immense gratitude to him.
He was diagnosed at the end of 2011, after which he dedicated himself to battling his disease. I am filled with an overwhelming sense of sadness upon news of his passing.
He had directly expressed to me his strong desire to dedicate himself to the restoration of Fukushima with us. I was looking forward to the day when I would see him leading the way with his energetic, booming voice. I am filled with deep regret that we are no longer able to work together towards the rebirth of TEPCO.
With his convictions in our hearts, all TEPCO workers and I commit our full dedication to the revitalization of Fukushima, which Mr. Yoshida risked his life to protect.
