We deeply apologize to the people who live near the nuclear power stations and broad society for the tremendous anxiety and inconvenience caused by the accident at our Fukushima Daiichi and Daini Nuclear Power Stations (hereinafter referred to as "the accident").

On June 11, 2013, a TEPCO employee of the Fukushima Nuclear Compensation Office left documents which are related to the nuclear damage compensation and containing personal information of those who have requested compensation on a train in Saitama Prefecture, and lost the documents. The missing documents concerning nuclear damage compensation, includes personal information (such as names, addresses and request statuses) of 22 people.

We sincerely apologize to these 22 people and the people who are suffering from the accident for the tremendous anxiety and inconvenience caused by the missing of important information of those who requested compensation.

We reported this issue to the police station and searched a possible place where the documents were lost. However, we have not yet found the documents. At present, we are making contact and explaining the situation to those who have their information contained in the documents.

We have been making efforts to ensure proper handling of personal information in such manners as to limit carrying documents outside the company to the minimum necessary occasions and to request strict control on the documents when they have to be carried outside. We deeply regret what has happened, and will conduct further strict and appropriate management efforts to improve our handling of personal information so that we never repeat the same mistake again.
