A person on duty found smoke coming out from a duct storing cables on the second floor of the Unit 2 Turbine Building at Sodegaura Thermal Power Station (Station Chief: Takeshi Takano, Address: 2-1 Nakasode, Sodegaura City, Chiba Prefecture, Rated output: power: 1000MW, Fuel: LNG, Operational commencement: September 1975) at around 11:05 PM yesterday. Therefore, a first-aid fire fighting was performed immediately and the fire was reported to the fire department. Operation was suspended at Unit 2 and the effort to put out the fire was continued. As a result, fire extinguishment was confirmed by the fire department at 4:10 AM today.

No injuries have been reported due to the fire, and the cause of the fire is currently being investigated. The recovery of Unit 2 is yet to be determined.

Today's supply capacity is 40,090MW and the usage rate is estimated to be 91%.
