This is follow-up information regarding the water leak from the underground reservoirs at Fukushima Daiichi NPS.
The results of sampling performed in the underground reservoirs yesterday (May 16) are as follows.
- Drain holes of the underground reservoirs No.1-7
- Leakage detection holes of the underground reservoirs No.1-4 and 6
- Observation holes of the underground reservoirs (around reservoirs No.1-3): A1-A19
- Observation holes of the underground reservoirs (around reservoir No.6): B1-B3
No significant change was found with the results compared to the previous results obtained on May 15.
Though the chloride concentration in the leakage detection hole (northeast) of the underground reservoir No.1 had slightly increased (to 73ppm) on May 15, the concentration has decreased to 37ppm on May 16 which is equivalent to the concentration on May 14 (30ppm) (previously announced). The all β density had also slightly increased (to 2.1x103Bq/cm3) on May 15, however, the density has decreased to 9.2x102Bq/cm3 on May 16 which is equivalent to the concentration on May 14 (7.2x102Bq/cm3).
