Fukushima Daiichi NPS Prompt Report 2013

Fukushima Daiichi NPS Prompt Report (May 10, 2013)Water Leak from the Underground Reservoirs in Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station (Follow-up Information No.136)*

*As a result of all β analysis performed in the drain holes of the underground reservoirs No.1 and 2 on May 10, the tendency of results obtained in the morning in the northeast side and the southwest side was found to be opposite to how it had been. Thus, it was judged that the samples may have been put in the wrong bottles.
Due to this, the sampling was performed again in all the drain holes of underground reservoirs using samples collected in the afternoon.
The analysis results (including chloride concentration) announced on May 10 have been corrected as follows (please visit the link below).

(Correction made on May 11, 2013)

This is follow-up information regarding the water leak from the underground reservoirs at Fukushima Daiichi NPS.

The results of chloride concentration analysis performed in the drain holes of the underground reservoirs No.1-7 (14 locations) and the leakage detection holes of the underground reservoirs No.1-4 and 6 (sample could not be collected at 2 out of 10 locations) today (May 10) are as follows.

The chloride concentration in the leakage detection hole (northeast) of the underground reservoir No.1 was found to have slightly decreased (from 95ppm to 44ppm) compared to yesterday (May 9). No significant change was found with the samples obtained in other locations compared to the previous analysis results.

The water level, etc. of the underground reservoirs will continue to be intensively monitored.
