Unit 5 at Hirono Thermal Power Station (Station chief: Yutaka Oshitani, Address: 58 Futatsu Numa, Shimokitaba, Hirono Town, Futaba Gun, Fukushima Prefecture, rated output power: 600MW, fuel: coal, operational commencement: July 2004) was suspended at 11:34 AM on January 20, 2013 during operation with rated output power since steam leakage from the tube inside the boiler was suspected.
The boiler is to be inspected to identify the cause and repair will be implemented.
Today's supply capacity is 50,300MW and the usage rate is estimated to be 92%.
